Well, it's easier to bring in than a K3  ;)

The first of my three KX3 transceivers should be ready to ship in the next 2 weeks I think. They are catching up with back log quickly now. They have shipped about a month's backlog in the last week.

I guess I'll change the address to my office here and get it UPS'ed to Thailand instead of Texas. I'll pay all the taxes and try to get it approved with the sticker now that they will approve rigs with 6 meters. I know the new rules make it cost a LOT for the type approval of the first rig of each new type, but I'll pay it. Hopefully, I'll have it for the September meeting to show. Then anyone that want to import one and get it type approved in Thailand, can do it cheaply.

I just got in the Thai mail my AlexLoop Walkham portable magnetic loop from Brazil. Tried it out in Khao Yai last weekend and it is amazing for it's size. It got here via mail in about 2 weeks. The VAT seemed kind of high at about 10% or so, but my assistant was able to pay it and pick it up at the post office for me with little trouble.

Are you getting them factory built or kits?

Do you already have the import permit(s)?

Did you need an import permit for your loop antenna?

Two are factory build, one is a kit.

I'm in the process of applying for all the paperwork.

Nope, just had to pay the VAT on the antenna. Never heard that you need any permit for antennas.

Maybe because I have invested a bit here through the BOI and employ a lot of Thai's, but I never to seem to have the trouble here that some others report. I also know some of the ministers. Or maybe just because I always try to do things the completely legal way, and if you do that the Thai's seems very forgiving of little mistakes.

Well that's not surprising since the RAST seems unwilling to publicly inform its own members of the NBTC requirements for antenna permits.

But since you're pals with some of the ministers it's most unlikely you'll wind up as a guest at the Hilton.

Well please let us know how it goes getting the KX3s permitted and inspected.

PS and also re getting that FT5000 you generously donated approved.

I don't mind paying the 27,000 Baht to get the first KX3 approved. I plan on getting two registered here.

When I get my buyout deal done, another 27,000 baht for the FT-5000MP type approval will be easy. Besides the one I'll donate to RAST, I'm going to get one for me too.

I really think the thing that buys me the most here, is I try to respect the Thai way of doing things and try to give back some to Thailand. I do a lot of business in europe and the states too, and there is a lot of government BS there too. No one has ever treated my more kindly than the Thai's.

I do wish I could find a complete list of the rules here in English. I can read and write Thai, but not very well.

73's
Paul

Has anyone successfully got one approved?............I assume you have the forms showing the duty paid as it will be required when NBTC inspects your radios.\
