It is with great sorrow that I must inform you that RAST Vice President Winit Kongprasert, HS1CKC, died on Saturday February 19 in a motorcycle accident in Petchaboon Province in northern Thailand.
Khun Winit had been one of the pioneers of amateur radio in Thailand and an active operator on VHF and HF from his home station, the HS0AC club station, where he conducted the 40-metre net, and from is car while mobile.
He had also helped to establish the Thailand DX Assocation (HSDXA) which began as the "Thailand Group 1996" (TG1996). Always active on behalf of amateur radio in Thailand and a key committee member of RAST, Khun Winit had been an inspiration to many Thai hams and had served the society in many capacities.
At the time of his death, Khun Winit had been Vice President of RAST and also deputy manager of the HS0AC Club Station at AIT. He will be sorely missed by his family, his many friends and fellow hams.
The bathing rites will begin today, Sunday February 20, at Sala 3, Wat Jollaprathan Rangsarit in Pakkred, Nonthaburi  at 4 p.m. and Buddhist prayers will begin at 7 p.m. this evening.
 May he rest in peace.
(Directions to the temple: From Vibhavadi Rangsit Highway, turn left at Laksi and drive west for 8.8 km along Chaeng Wattana Road to the Pakkred "ha yaek" (five-way intersection).  Turn left and proceed along Tiwanon Road for 700 metres. Wat Jollaprathan Rangsarit is on your left.)

This has yet to sink in. OM Winit was so energetic and living life to the max. That Harley Road Glide was his pride and joy and he kept customizing and tuning it. He had APRS on the 375 kg bike which was more than 5 times his own weight. They had a Police escort on their group rides - to be both fast and safe.
Winit personified the openness towards foreigners, treating them like friends he has not yet met. Countless hams can testify to his being very accommodating and helpful. Although he was always busy with a demanding job as manager, a long commute and many interests. We wanted to ride near Chiang Mai and test a SSB transceiver named BitX20.
I'll remember you with a spring in your step and a man with a boy's large dreams, living in the present time, grabbing life by the horns and not letting go.
Now you began the longest journey there is -

Condolences to your family, RIP Harley Man!

The sadly news of Winit, did make me very very sad.
I have not had the chance to meet him. But I know of him, and his practical maintenance of antennas in the club, and other places. Had a belive of meeting him in future, and make some good dxpeditions, but sadly it is not going to be so..

My thoughts goes to his family, and may he RIP.
