May a U.S. amateur bring a portable radio to Thailand?
« on: March 12, 2010, 08:22:11 AM »
What type of radio may a U.S. licensed amateur bring to Thailand? I was thinking
about bringing a portable handheld VHF/UHF radio. I already have the RAST
lifetime membership, but our travel itinerary will not permit me to operate from
the HS0AC club station as I did on my last visit.

There is probably not time to allow me to obtain a reciprocal license. We are
coming next week. I tried to e-mail Ray (G3NOM) and also HS0AC@yahoo.com
and both e-mail addresses were rejected as invalid twice.

If I cannot obtain a reciprocal license, is it permitted for me to bring a transceiver
and use it to listen only? Or should I plan on bringing only a receiver which is
incapable of transmitting?

Sorry to say You are not allowed to bring any radio to Thailand and use inside Thailand if you do not have a Thai call sign.
And its very hard laws on that here, so do not try it, use a Club Station instead. 8)

I SE that you have not Followed the RAST Webb page  Ray did suffer from a stroke a couple of years back and has not recovered yet.

The RAST member ship does not allow you to operate any radio more the in a club station

And Thailand is not in the CEPT agreement so its forbidden to operate any radio here without proper license   :'(

Agreed with that statement! Even an unauthorised piece of 50 Ohm Coaxcable could cost you 5 years of your life ...

The best scource is here in the forum or even qrz.com/  -- >> HS0AC when it's concerned to updated adresses ...

HS0AC's website is here ...
