Hi Guys

I talk t yesterday with my friends at NTC Chiangmai and the 78 Mhz band is a CB band but not to Popular because of the long size antenna.
But when you look at all the cars in the country the longer antenna the better it is.

73s and MERRY X-mas to you all and HAPPY NEW YEAR SAWADEE PEE MAI 2009  ;D :D :o

Also, anyone know the spot frequencies of the 80 allowed channels in this band ?? I'm betting that there is a swathe of frequencies here that aren't being used ......

Well the ant. at a lot of cars are often only show because there is no coax going to ... so for some reason maybe in the past these ant were used for 78 MHz but now it "looks" good to have a big whip on our car - HI!

Anyone know where I can get a supply of these 78MHz hand-helds?

I work as a volunteer Tourist Assistant at Phuket Airport and have my licenced 2 metre HT, but my volunteer colleagues are not hams and therefore cannot legally use 2 metre equipment.

Every taxi driver and airport worker uses the red 245 MHz HTs, rendering all those channels unreliable for short-range communication.  Since the 78 MHz HTs are hardly used nowadays, it occurs to me that they would fit my requirement for reasonably clear-channel communications within a range of about 200 metres.

I'm in Phuket, but will travel up to BKK to purchase perhaps 6 of these yellow HTs if anyone knows of a supplier.

Thanks - Simon
