Not only is the advanced licence in the Thai language, but it is only open to Thai citizens.

Foreigners in Thailand only have the option of a reciprocal licence - the HS0Zxx licence we all have. Or they can apply for Thai citizenship, which is difficult to qualify for, and takes a long time to get.

Best regards and 73,

check your Thai radio licence first. There you will find the power output you can use. As far as i know the intermediate licence is limited to 200W, but even that depends on the radio you use. I use a IC-718 and my licence is limited to 100W as the radio is not producing more power.
Using an 1 kW amplifier is therfore ilegal.
The only chance to run 1 kW is the new Thai high power licence, but as far as I know the only chance to get it is to make a new radio examination in Thailand. And that's maybe in Thai language only.!
Please don't do any ileagal things, because if you will be caught maybe all HS0Zxx farangs have to suffer from that.

Hi Denis,
I think best idea ist to call/write NBTC first and ask about the regulations. My experince a few years ago was that I even needed a written allowness from them to import spare parts for my Optibeam. If that regulation is still existing than you need their papers first BEFORE you send your parts to Thailand. Otherwise you will get much problems with customs!
Sorry, but I can't remember how much tax I had to pay. Sure ist that you have to pay the 7,3% additional to the import fee.
If they catch you at customs with the antenna parts in your luggage without  import papers you will have much troubles also. Better clear everything with NBTC first to be on the secure site.
Just my advice!!!

« Last post by HS0ZFZ on November 04, 2016, 02:07:42 PM »

Dear member or friend of RAST, The Radio Amateur Society of Thailand under the Patronage of His Majesty the King (RAST) will hold its next monthly meeting as usual on November 6, the first Sunday of the month, at Sena Place Hotel on Phaholyothin Soi 11, beginning at 11 a.m. A buffet lunch will be available for 320 baht. This month RAST will also be hosting the 44th SEANET Convention at the Discovery Beach Hotel in Pattaya on the weekend of November 18-21. However, the ARDF Championships that had been scheduled for November 5-6 have been postponed until the weekend of January 28-29 to respect the mourning period for His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, HS1A-SK, who passed away on October 13, 2016. At the upcoming RAST meeting on Sunday, RAST President Jakkree (Jack) Hantongkom will bring those present up-to-date about amateur radio in Thailand and the activities of the society and all RAST members as well as any radio amateurs visiting Thailand are welcome to attend.

Dear member or friend of RAST,

As you are no doubt aware, Thailand is in deep mourning following the passing of His Majesty King Bhumibhol Adulyadej, HS1A-SK on October 13 2016 and, as a result of this tragic news, RAST has cancelled the Amateur Radio Direction-Finding (ARDF) Championships that had been scheduled for the weekend of November 5-6, 2016. Instead, the ARDF Championships will take place on January 28-29, 2017 while on Sunday, November 6 RAST will hold a regular monthly meeting at Sena Place Hotel from 11 a.m. onwards and all RAST members are invited to attend this meeting. With this email we can also confirm that the 44th SEANET Convention on Friday, Saturday and Sunday November 18-20, 2016 will take place at the Discovery Beach Hotel in Pattaya as scheduled and we would like to encourage all delegates who will be attending the convention to bring sombre clothing (with dark colours or in black and white) to wear during the event to respect the passing of His Majesty King Bhumibhol.

Sincerely, 73 Tony, HS0ZDX
