Sawasdee krap, Khun Thiti:

very good, go for it! Which exam will you be taking?
There are books for sale - www.betterworldbooks.com ship to Thailand
for a low flat rate per book. But then, you need the latest version for the exam and
not the manual from 1986  ;)

Let me know if you need help buying study material.

Greetings from Nonthaburi!

P.S.: I looked up your details on QRZ.com - like your antennas, truly homebrew hi hi

Hope to meet you on the band and at RAST for the exam
Title: HS8VZW de HS0ZFE: pse confirm that you will take the Technician exam!
Post by: hs0zfe on September 09, 2010, 11:18:38 AM
Hello Thiti:

you really need the book. The ARRL and Gordon West publish such books. Make sure you get the latest one - for the ARRL this will be the one published 2007. A 1986 book won't be up to date!  ???

Such a book is rather expensive when you add the shipping cost to Thailand. www.betterworldbooks.com has a deal going on low flat rate charges, but they do not stock the book you need. And www.amazon.com is over $ 54 or 1,600 Baht new.

The exam is not free. Hence the need to get the study book now... It has hundreds of pages...

Title: HS8VZW de HS0ZFE: build a TRX instead?
Post by: hs0zfe on September 12, 2010, 10:11:12 AM
Hello Thiti:

would you read the hundreds of pages and then re-read each chapter to study ? If you get a headache after 1 or two pages reading English - forget it! Build a SW+ instead or study for higher Thai classes (which class do you hold?)

http://www.qsl.net/n0rc/rm/ The Rock Mite kit costs $ 49 including shipping. but then there is the much more serious SW+. My friend's CW sounded much nicer with his SW+ versus his Icom 735 (?). http://www.qslnet.de/member/dl2hrf/

Your English is pretty good and I'm happy to lend you some good crime novels to read  ;)

let me know if you really truly  w a n t  to invest 100 hours or so in that exam, or build a kit instead?

Title: Link to the Questions Pool - and the Technician Exam Questions as .PDF
Post by: hs0zfe on September 14, 2010, 08:13:51 AM
Hi All:

http://www.ncvec.org/downloads/Revised%20Element%202.Pdf

these are the questions you will face in your exam. I feel silly spending over $ 50 on books for Thiti HS8VZW when these books won't have the same question pool  >:(

For CW learners, I'm ordering the Q&A (Questions and Answers) in CW as well  ;D
