Title: Jazz it up ??
Post by: M0XDW on October 10, 2008, 08:30:51 AM
Can we jazz the forum up a bit to try and attract new members and retain existing ones ??

This forum (http://www.near-fest.com) uses an older Simple Machines codebase (1.1.4 instead of 1.1.5) but they have things like an events calendar, landing page, photo gallery etc. all of these add 'value' and help to stimulate interest etc. I'm certain that we could benefit from features like these.

Hi guys,

As a first step I upgraded the sources and the packages to 1.1.6.
The database and structure was backed up and the tables reindexed and optimized.

As a next step, I propose we check out if this improved anything regarding the known problems.
Secondly, I am open to discuss practical and 'do-able' improvements to the forum.
I hope to discuss this at the Pattaya meeting as well.
